Sandra Brown (Chill Factor) returns with this fairly predictable romance/mystery about disarmingly hot detective Duncan Hatcher, who’s investigating the death of a burglar in the home of Cato Laird, a popular judge. The key suspect is Laird’s wife, Elise, a former topless waitress who almost immediately seems destined to perform lap dances for Hatcher. Ricochet drowns in detail before the real intrigue begins. It seems the Lairds both have ties to a drug trafficker whom Hatcher has been trying to nail for years. The occasional fight and love scenes provide a welcome jolt of caffeine, since the rest of Ricochet feels like Sleepytime tea.
