Who among us hasn’t avoided a mean case of the Mondays by singing Dolly Parton’s ”9 to 5” in the shower? (Naysayers, I’m not trying to hear you this early in the week; the rest of y’all can join me on the count of three… ”Tumble outta bed and stumble to the kitchen/ Pour myself a cup of ambition…”)

Sweet.

Anyway, the only problem with Dolly’s rollicking good ditty is the way it sticks in the brain worse than a raspberry seed in one’s molar. But not to worry, a new site called Maim that Tune (thanks to Metafilter for the link) acts as the ultimate mental floss, cleaning even the most addictive songs right out of your noggin by replacing ’em with a random, yet equally catchy, number. Bookmark it now, then press the power button the next time you become medically unable to stop humming ”Promiscuous” or ”Crazy” or — ¡ay dios mio! — ”Stars Are Blind.” Trust me, 30 seconds in to the Hawaii Five-0 theme, and that old ”9 to 5” chorus will be as distant a memory as Rhinestone.
