It’s been a rough year for Will Ferrell: His movies flopped at the box office (Melinda and Melinda, Kicking & Screaming, Bewitched, The Producers, and Winter Passing), and his name was misspelled on the marquee when he presented at the Oscars.
But at least he’s still alive and well. That’s just in case you were fooled (along with many news outlets) by a hoax press release reporting that Ferrell had died in a freak paragliding accident. E! Online bravely tries to get to the bottom of the scam, while Defamer suggests that the still-at-large hoaxster was inspired by Ferrell’s line in Wedding Crashers mocking a man who died in a hang-gliding accident.
So, to reiterate: Former Saturday Night Live star Will Ferrell: not dead. Generalissimo Francisco Franco: still dead.
