-From the Cheap Irony Department: Oscar-nominated documentary filmmaker Kirby Dick’s latest doc, This Film Is Not Yet Rated examines what he says is the movie-ratings board’s lenience toward big-studio movies and violent content and its alleged bias against independent films and sexual content. Last week, the board slapped Dick’s film with an NC-17 rating. Fortunately, the Independent Film Channel plans to air it uncensored next year.
–Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! meets The Fast and the Furious. Director Rob Cohen will film a biopic of boobsploitation auteur Russ Meyer. Too bad Cohen’s already used the title XXX.
-Meanwhile, 2 Fast 2 Furious director John Singleton will direct another adventure on wheels, Convoy. No, it’s not a remake of the CB-era trucker classic, but an action film about American contractors driving supply trucks through the war zone in Afghanistan.
