We gave it a B+
Eighties synth-pop masters New Order were always a singles band. So this two-CD anthology, Singles, which expands on the concise Substance and telescopes the four-CD Retro, makes sense. Diminished returns by set’s end, but less so than you’d expect; they can still wring more soul from a drum machine than most anybody. And any CD with ”Blue Monday” and ”Temptation” will improve your day.
