On Twin Cinema, their third CD, this Canadian indie supergroup (called The New Pornographers) add 14 sublime power-pop blasts to their unerring canon of should-be smashes. Uncharacteristic, semisomber cuts like the wistful Neko Case-sung ”These Are the Fables” and the folky anthem ”Streets of Fire” offer a welcome fifth dimension to the group’s usual Rainbow Brite ballistics. Still, it’s their trademark boisterous hyper-melodies — exemplified by the bulldozing masterwork ”Use It” — that will have you involuntarily humming their praises for weeks (months!) to come.
