Maybe we’re watching too much Lost, but. . .literary scholars that we are, we noticed a familiar face on ABC’s Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House on the Prairie March 26. Author Harriet Beecher Stowe cameos in a photo Mary finds among the once-precious goods jettisoned by pioneers before a dangerous river crossing. A nod to the pivotal river crossing in Stowe’s Uncle Tom’s Cabin? Or to her son Frederick, who headed west in 1870, never to be seen again? ”It wasn’t intentional,” says series producer Hans Proppe. ”But I love it — somebody should write a grad-school paper on it!”
