Put the O Back In Country

Posted on

Jennings aimed for rock but made the perfect outlaw country record instead. He stokes the renegade fire of his famous parents — singers Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter — veering from guitar crunch to wistful pedal steel to Byrds-y jangle, all of which suits his tough ‘n’ tender voice. Owing as much to Zeppelin and Lynyrd Skynyrd as it does to Nashville great George Jones (who cameos), Put the O Back in Country sounds as wiry and tattooed as Jennings himself.
