WHO Robert A. Iger, 54. Michael Eisner’s choice to succeed him as CEO of the Walt Disney Co. in October — when Eisner’s 21-year reign ends.
THE DEAL After months of public embarrassments (the Ovitz trial, angry shareholders, the Miramax and Pixar brouhahas), the embattled Eisner opted to step down a year earlier than expected. On March 13, Disney’s board of directors anointed Iger.
RÉSUMÉ Before assuming No. 2 duties at the Mouse House in 2000, Iger scaled the ranks at ABC, where he once toiled away on the net’s Wide World of Sports. And before that? A short gig in upstate New York as a TV weatherman. Somewhere Al Roker is plotting a coup.
