A look at the ''Late Late'' candidates

Posted on

Since Craig Kilborn walked away on Aug. 27, The Late Late Show has been auditioning replacement desk jockeys. Check out our report card to see who’s the guest host with the most. —Dalton Ross

Overall performance Funny lady but clearly out of her element.

Most painful moment Asking ]CSI: NY‘s Vanessa Ferlito ”What do you do on the show?” was bad. Gushing to Rob Lowe ”It was super, super great having you here. I’m so glad that I got lucky” was even worse.

Grade C

Overall performance Slightly awkward delivering the news, but considerably cooler during interviews, like when he discussed the merits of Pimp Juice with Nelly.

Bonus points for ”Welcome back to The Late Late Show. Or, as black people like to say, ‘Damn late.”’

Grade B+

Overall performance A tad smug but also comfortable, quirky, and quick on his feet.

Bonus points for Using Susan Lucci’s Youthful Essence massager on his crotch. And pimping EW’s Must List cover three times certainly didn’t hurt his standing.

Grade A-

Overall performance Awesome . . . if you want to watch Best Damn Sports Show Period. Which explains all the lame Pete Rose jokes and holding up a picture of football great Ray Nitschke while yelling ”Learn the history!”

Most painful moment Arm wrestling with Mike Ditka.

Grade C+
