Ads for ”Spider-Man 2” will appear on top of bases in ballparks in games played between June 11 and June 13, apparently marking the first time bases have been used for advertisements, according to the Associated Press. ”This was a unique chance to combine what is sort of a universally popular character and our broad fan base, including the youth market we’re trying to reach out to,” Bob DuPuy, baseball’s chief operating officer, told AP.
Of the 15 teams playing at home on the dates in question, only the New York Yankees have refused to play with the Spidey bases ? but they’ll use them during batting practice, according to AP.
