Take a wronged woman, add a lying dirtbag and a friendly adviser (who’s usually seasoned and crusty), stir in a revenge plot, and serve cold. Wait a minute! That isn’t an Ashley Judd movie! It’s ”Along Came a Spider” (2001), with Morgan Freeman as the same wise older crank he played in Judd’s ”Kiss the Girls” — and ”Patch Adams” alumna Monica Potter (shown with Freeman) in the lead role. Which just goes to show, you can make an Ashley Judd movie without Ashley Judd. But that’s a genre we’d prefer to nip in the budd.
