Lara Soderstrom sued Simon Cowell, 44, and Cupid Productions, Inc., claiming they used her name and likeness without permission in the matchmaking show Cupid, Oct. 14 in L.A. She seeks $1 million in damages. A rep for the show did not return calls…. Former ’60s Avenger Dame Diana Rigg (right), 65, won a libel and invasion-of-privacy suit Oct. 20 against Britain’s The Evening Standard and Daily Mail newspapers — which she claimed had painted her as an embittered woman who held British men in low regard. She was awarded $63,832 by London’s high court; the papers must also pay an estimated $134,000 in legal fees…. On Oct. 20, a California judge allowed former Stone Temple Pilots lead Scott Weiland, 36, to remain free despite failing a drug test. The singer pleaded no contest to a felony drug-possession charge in August and must pass two more drug tests or risk jail time.


Robert De Niro, 60, has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. According to the actor’s rep, doctors say the disease was detected early enough and, because of the actor’s ”excellent physical condition,” they predict a full recovery.

Actor Alan Alda, 67, underwent emergency surgery for an intestinal obstruction Oct. 19 in La Serena, Chile, where he had been filming a documentary…. Harrison Ford, 61, had surgery for a torn rotator cuff. A rep said the actor’s arm would be in a sling for about a month.
