Ludacris will be able to afford steak and champagne, now that ”Chicken-N-Beer” sold 429,000 units right out of the bucket — er, box. Elvis, no stranger to either of those food groups, followed up his previous set of No. 1 hits with ”2nd to None,” which, not true to its title, opened in third with 181,000 sold. A new ”Totally Hits” compilation totally debuted at No. 13 with 68,000, shouting ”Eat my dust, Sevendust!” at the 67K-selling 14th-placers. At No. 15, a 2Pac remix CD proved Presley doesn’t have a lock on irrepressible posthumousness.

IN THE STUDIO
BRANDY is in Hollywood recording her fourth album. Timbaland is doing the lion’s share of producing, and word is the disc — due out early next year — will have an edgier hip-hop sound.
FATBOY SLIM is working on his fourth CD — tentatively titled Fatboy 4 — in his Brighton, England, studio. Too early to say when it’ll hit stores, but Damon Albarn, Bootsy Collins, and Blackalicious’ Lateef have all contributed vocals.
