Diane Lane, 38, is suing Intermedia Film Equities USA, claiming it failed to finance the now-dead Me Again, which she had agreed to star in with Bruce Willis for $3.5 million. Lane is asking for $2.7 million, covering the balance of her salary and legal fees. Intermedia had no comment.
Marry me, Mini-Me! It seems reports that Verne Troyer, 34, and girlfriend Genevieve Gallen are engaged might be, ahem, tall tales. Troyer’s rep says the wedding news is ”100 percent not true…. He never even asked her.” Gallen could not be reached for comment.

Coming soon: Count It Like the Big Studios. That’s what Fox Searchlight anticipates with Aug. 1’s expansion of Bend It Like Beckham to about 1,000 screens. The impressive indie — budgeted at roughly $5.5 million — grossed $26 million plus in 20 weeks of limited release. Says Searchlight’s Nancy Utley: ”This summer has been full of movies that failed to meet moviegoers’ expectations. Maybe now [they’re] ready for a smaller movie which really delivers.”
