After Beanie Sigel performed Thursday night during the Camden, N.J., stop on the ”Rock the Mic” tour, on the bill with mentor Jay-Z and 50 Cent, his mother drove him across the Delaware River to Philadelphia, where he surrendered to police, who had issued a warrant for his arrest after a Tuesday night shooting. The rapper was freed on bail after a day behind bars, but he still faces a charge of attempted murder.

The shooting took place at West Philadelphia’s Pony Tail bar. Police told the Philadelphia Daily News that the victim, Terrence Speller, got into an argument with two women outside the bar. Shortly afterward, a black Cadillac Escalade pulled up to the women, and the man inside, whom Speller reportedly identified as Sigel, asked them ”Which one?” The shooter then fired five or six shots at Speller from a silver-plated automatic pistol. Speller, hospitalized with gunshots to the solar plexus and foot, was discharged on Friday and is expected to recover.

Sigel’s lawyer has denied that the Roc-a-Fella rapper (real name: Dwight Grant) had anything to do with the shooting. However, he also faces charges in two other cases. He’s scheduled for a preliminary hearing later this month on an aggravated assault charge, and in another case, faces a charge of carrying an unlicensed weapon.
