Lashundra, we hardly knew ye. Voters sent Lashundra Cobbins, better known as Trenyce, back home to Memphis, it was revealed on Wednesday’s episode of ”American Idol.” The 22-year-old’s departure may not have been as much of a shock as the identity of her fellow finisher in the bottom two: crowd-pleaser Ruben Studdard. In contrast, singing Marine Joshua Gracin, who many viewers think is the weakest vocally among the remaining finalists, finished safely among the top three vote-getters.

Certainly, the judges were shocked that viewers landed Trenyce and Studdard in the bottom two and left Gracin safe. ”This is crazy, dude,” said Randy Jackson. ”I don’t know what’s going on in America, but this is not good, dude. This is not happening. We’re trying to find the best people in America to win this competition. It is about the best, America. That kid [Studdard] is brilliant up there. I don’t know what y’all been hearing.” Even Paula Abdul called the voters’ decision ”absolutely ridiculous.” Simon Cowell rolled his eyes and conceded that, ultimately, everyone has to honor the will of the voters.

Trenyce’s ouster leaves four finalists: Studdard, Gracin, Clay Aiken, and Kimberley Locke. Next week, they’ll be singing Bee Gees tunes for guest judge Robin Gibb.
