Vancouver pop-punk hopefuls Gob are clearly not prefab in the sense of tour/label mate Avril Lavigne: Foot in Mouth is their fifth album, and they’ve gigged around North America long enough (since ’96) to establish their bona fides. Unfortunately, there’s not an original bone in their musical bodies, and, unlike friends and fellow Canadians Sum 41, Gob haven’t yet acquired the knack of writing decent melodies or hooks. Not good when the best thing you can say is that the band’s rhythm section sounds tight.
