Martha Stewart has found her own Dr. Phil. He’s Marc Morrone, the pet expert who’s appeared frequently on her show, accompanied by his family of pets, including Harry the Scarlet Macaw, Dixie the Dachshund, Bubbles the Prairie Dog, and Harvey the Flemish Giant rabbit. Now, she’s spinning him off into his own syndicated half-hour. ”Petkeeping with Marc Morrone” will have him offering pet care tips on channels in 130 markets starting in September, Stewart announced Wednesday.
”From the first moment in 1998 that I saw Marc and his colorful menagerie, I knew that he would prove to be an ideal teacher and brand representative for those eager to learn how to care for and enjoy living with pets,” Stewart said in a statement. The domestic diva — who’s been hounded for the past 10 months by dogged federal investigators, determined to collar her for alleged insider trading — is herself a dog lover who owns two Chow Chows. No word on whether Stewart will show up on her protege’s program to demonstrate how to weave a tapestry out of pet hair sheddings gleaned from the couch.
