Arquette has a son, Enzo, 14, from a relationship with musician Paul Rossi. It’s Jane’s first child…. Another muggle? Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling, 37, and husband Dr. Neil Murray, 31, greeted David Gordon Rowling Murray, March 23, in Edinburgh, Scotland. This is the couple’s first child. Rowling has a daughter, 10, from a previous marriage.

Apparently, hanging out with older, influential men gets you TV gigs: Regis Philbin sidekick Kelly Ripa, 32, has also scored a new show. The perky ”Pipa” stars in the pilot for ABC’s Hope & Faith, alongside Faith Ford (Murphy Brown), 38 — who, ironically, plays Hope. ABC insists that Ripa will not be leaving Live With Regis and Kelly. Phew!… On March 20, Viacom COO and president Mel Karmazin, 59, signed a three-year contract to stay with the company, home to CBS, MTV, and Paramount.
EXITS On March 19, chrome-domed media magnate Barry Diller, 61, resigned as CEO of Vivendi Universal International to allow the French media monolith to sell off its entertainment divisions and avoid potential conflicts of interest. Diller will stay on as head of USA Interactive.
COURTS Brat Packer Anthony Michael Hall, 34, is being sued for $612,000 by a Canadian insurance company that claims the actor failed to disclose his manic depression when he signed an insurance policy to star in the USA series The Dead Zone. The suit contends it was this condition that caused Hall to miss several months of shooting in 2001. Hall’s reps declined to comment…. Call it a case of life litigating art: Interior designer Jack Deamer, who says Sean Hayes’ character Jack on NBC’s Will & Grace is based on him, settled a lawsuit with NBC and the show’s writers for an undisclosed amount. Deamer claimed Will & Grace writers went so far as to ask to borrow his old sneakers so Hayes could wear them on the show.
