Have you ever just known, in that creepy, precognitive way, that you were about to hear the words make sweet love? Catch this show and feel the psychic chill along your spine. Indefatigably upbeat one-hit wonder (1973’s cloying ”Playground in My Mind”), favored entertainer of Prince Albert of Monaco, and darling of the Strip since 2000, Holmes models himself on the crooners of old, but softens any roguish edges with an eager-beaver bonhomie and plenty of feely-speak (the presaged line can be heard in a tune his guitarist wrote while ”going through some stuff”). The son of a black American jazz musician and a white British opera singer, Holmes is a wellspring of poignant life stories. Though he dabbles in both parents’ musical genres, he has a soft spot for word-associative pop medleys. The many throaty chuckles feel about as carefree and spontaneous as a Swiss rail timetable. Don’t forget to pack the insulin. (Harrah’s, 800-392-9002)
