The confessor takes art restorer by day, assassin by night Gabriel Allon to Venice, Lake Garda, London, the Vatican, and — most recently — the No. 4 spot on this week’s best-seller list. Such a solid debut bodes well for Daniel Silva, a CNN producer-turned-thriller writer who’s written two other Allon books in the past three years, 2000’s The Kill Artist and 2002’s The English Assassin. Down the list, T.C. Boyle’s counterculture comedy Drop City premieres at No. 12. Groovy, man.
