The premise of The Tuxedo: Jackie Chan’s cabbie-turned-chauffeur turns superspy when he dons his Bondian boss’ tux. But the fully loaded formalwear is just another high-concept ruse to fuse his regular-guy charm and wicked martial artistry. The film has its cute moments, but the convoluted mission, which involves foiling a plan to poison the nation’s water supply, bogs things down.
Jennifer Love Hewitt, meanwhile, gets lost in her character’s inconsistency — first she’s a brainy evidence analyst, then a sexed-up field agent, then a dateless dork. In the end, nothing about this ”Tuxedo” quite fits.
