Juvenile is busted for cocaine, pot possession

Juvenile is busted for cocaine, pot possession. The rapper was a passenger in a car where police say they found the drugs

Juvenile and three other men were arrested Wednesday in New Orleans on charges of possession of cocaine and marijuana, the Associated Press reports. The rapper was a passenger in a rented Lincoln Town Car that police stopped at a checkpoint to inspect cars for proof of insurance. But police say it wasn’t insurance that raised a stink among the cops inspecting the rapper’s ride.

”Officers detected a very strong odor of burning marijuana coming from the vehicle,” New Orleans police spokesman Sgt. Paul Accardo said in a statement. ”Officers then observed two, still burning, marijuana cigarettes in the ashtray and subsequently arrested all four occupants for possession of marijuana.” Police also said they found a small amount of cocaine in the trunk.

The 27-year-old rapper (real name: Terius Gray) was released on his own recognizance and, through his lawyer, disputed the charges.”There were multiple parties in the car, the car was not owned by him and the bag [of cocaine] was not his. [Gray] is innocent of both charges,” the rapper’s attorney, Morton Fry, told MTV.

Juvenile, who lives in the New Orleans suburb of LaPlace, also faces pending battery and robbery charges from an incident last May, in which the rapper and two associates allegedly beat up a barber and stole $200 from him after accusing him of selling bootlegged Juvenile recordings. Regarding that case, Fry told MTV, ”He looks forward to the day when he’ll be vindicated. It’s unfortunate that being a celebrity attracts allegations.”
