Jailed Bobby Brown is hospitalized

Jailed Bobby Brown is hospitalized. The singer is expected to be released from the hospital, and his sentence, on Wednesday

Bobby Brown’s eight-day stay in jail for a 1996 drunk driving charge was interrupted early Tuesday morning by an undisclosed illness, which sent the singer to Atlanta’s Grady Memorial Hospital, Reuters reports. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department, citing a policy of confidentiality about inmates’ medical records, would not identify his ailment, but department spokesperson Mikki Jones did tell Reuters, ”The hospital reports he is in good condition.”

Brown, who was due to be released Wednesday after serving six days (under the county’s policy of 25 percent reductions of sentences for good behavior), may go straight home when he’s released from the hospital. Nancy Seltzer, spokesperson for Brown’s wife, Whitney Houston, told the New York Post that Brown was expected to be out of the hospital by Wednesday.

The 33-year-old Brown, who acknowledged his bipolar disorder and occasional marijuana use to Diane Sawyer during his and Houston’s notorious ”PrimeTime” interview last month, has suffered other sudden ailments recently. Last June, he was hospitalized in Virginia with an undisclosed infection. In August 2001, he collapsed at his home studio in New Jersey and was treated for dehydration.
