We rate Madonna in ”A League of Their Own”

MADONNA PLAYS ”All the Way” Mae Mordabito, a 1940s women’s-league center fielder

FRIENDS/LOVERS IN THE CAST Pal Rosie O’Donnell (above right) plays for the same team.

DOES SHE SING? No, but she jitterbugs. And ”This Used to Be My Playground” is on the soundtrack.

MEMORABLE MOMENT When Madonna suggests letting her shirt fall open during a game in order to draw a crowd, O’Donnell cracks, ”You think there are men in this country who ain’t seen your bosoms?”

REDEEMING CAMP VALUE Madonna goes to confession and makes a priest swoon.

WHAT WE SAID THEN Madonna may operate best as a team player, rather than a star hitter. (Read the full review)
