CLASH OF THE TITANS Harry Hamlin (Warner, PG) So cheesy you may need crackers–but as mythology adventure films go, it’s hard to topple. B+

CODE UNKNOWN Juliette Binoche (Kino, unrated) It’ll take some work to crack director Michael Haneke’s code, but this French drama is worth it. B+


IRIS (Buena Vista, R) Richard Eyre’s portrait of novelist Iris Murdoch garnered Oscar nods for Kate Winslet and Judi Dench–and a win for Jim Broadbent.

THE SWEETEST THING (Columbia TriStar, R) Cameron Diaz hits the road to find true love, shaking her groove thang along the way.

WE WERE SOLDIERS (Paramount, R) Brave-hearted Mel Gibson falls in line and marches into battle in director Randall Wallace’s Vietnam War drama.
