Patrick Stettner’s slow-paced thriller explores what happens when an alienated, unloved corporate executive finds out about her young, nubile assistant’s quest for revenge over the alleged rape of a college student. Channing is sublime as the classic lonely middle-aged exec who’s given up everything for her career, and Stiles is much sharper as a complex, disturbed vixen than as the bland romantic heroine she so often ends up playing. View it as a commentary on the victims of cold corporate America or a character study on women in the 21st century. Either way, it’s definitely strange business.
