BIG DOUGHFUS

While critics were clucking that Adam Sandler was no Gary Cooper, the goofball rode the remake Mr. Deeds to his third-best opening–not enough to top his personal record (Big Daddy’s $41.5 million), but a nice rebound after Little Nicky. Lilo & Stitch fell short of Disney’s initial Sunday-night projections to finish behind last week’s champ, Minority Report, for the second straight week. And continuing to line up to kiss the bride, audiences should carry My Big Fat Greek Wedding across the $20 million threshold over the holiday weekend.
