Would you like the red pill or the blue pill? Or maybe the Geritol? Clint Eastwood is hoping Laurence Fishburne will go ahead and make his day by costarring with him in ”Mystic River,” a thriller based on Dennis Lehane’s novel. Variety reports that the ”Matrix” star is in talks to join the cast, where he’d play the partner of Eastwood’s character, a homicide detective trying to solve a murder that involves three old friends.
Writing the screenplay is Brian Helgeland (”A Knight’s Tale,” ”L.A. Confidential”). Helgeland also adapted the screenplay for Eastwood’s ”Blood Work” from Michael Connelly’s novel. That thriller, which Eastwood directed and stars in, opens in August. Fishburne’s ”Matrix” sequels open in summer and winter of 2003.
