R. Kelly has already pleaded his innocence in his new song ”Heaven, I Need A Hug,” but he made it official in a Chicago court on Wednesday. The R&B star entered a not-guilty plea during his arraignment on 21 counts of child pornography, according a spokesperson for the Cook County State’s Attorney. The star, who was indicted June 5 on charges that he videotaped sex acts with an underage girl, didn’t make a statement in court.

Kelly is free on $750,000 bail and is next due in court on August 7 for a status check on the case. No trial date has yet been set. One of Kelly’s attorneys, Sam Adam, told the Associated Press on Wednesday that he believes that the FBI erred in verifying the alleged child porn tape as authentic. ”I haven’t seen the tape but I know the FBI has been wrong 100 times in the last year,” he told the wire service.

Kelly has said he’s not the man on the widely circulated video, while one of his attorneys has argued that the girl shown was not underage. The singer, who’s been the target of several lawsuits alleging sexual misconduct, could face a 15-year prison term and a $100,000 fine if he’s convicted.
