Eminem's purple car will be auctioned for charity

Eminem’s purple car will be auctioned for charity. A Detroit-area car dealer plans to sell the rapper’s recent trade-in to support a local literacy drive

Eminem and his posse D12 had a hit last year with ”Purple Pills.” Now the rapper has traded in his purple wheels. Russ Milne Ford in Macomb, Michigan, outside Detroit, says it has Eminem’s purple 1999 Mustang convertible and plans to auction it off to benefit the Macomb Literacy Project, which teaches adults how to read.

Dealership manager Keith Batko tells MTV that he believes this is the first car Eminem bought when he became a star. He says Eminem bought the car at Russ Milne, trading in an old heap and paying with a royalty check from ”The Slim Shady LP.” He traded up again last week, leaving behind the car but not its $7,000 stereo or Mustang Cobra wheels. Still, the car is in near-mint condition and has less than 20,000 miles on it, Batko says — not to mention its historical value. Echoing Eminem’s line in his new single ”Without Me” that he’s ”the worst thing since Elvis Presley,” Batko calls the car a piece of pop history, saying, ”Eminem will be the next Elvis.”
