Q Using the name of an infant who died 30 years ago, Enough’s Jennifer Lopez finagles herself a false birth certificate in Michigan. Could the ruse work?

A Director Michael Apted seems to think state officials were born yesterday. ”They don’t check if a person’s dead,” he argues. But Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., county clerk Diane Cork disagrees. ”We don’t let that happen,” she says. ”You need a photo ID.” In addition, anybody requesting a birth certificate must know her mother’s maiden name — not normally noted in obits. Besides, Cork suspects a hottie like J. Lo would stand out in small-town Michigan: ”We know who lives in our area.” — Nicholas Fonseca (Send queries to BurningQuestions@ew.com)
