BUCKS ROGER

The bar, raised it has been. But not by Yoda. Star Wars: Episode II had a terrific bow but fell well short of Spider-Man’s record debut, not just in total opening gross but also in per-site average. Noise from the clash of these titans, however, couldn’t drown out cheers for a couple of well-reviewed adult-themed flicks: About a Boy opened at No. 4, and Unfaithful dropped a mere 29 percent in its second week. Counterprogramming seems to be paying off in any language as Monsoon Wedding and Y Tu Mama Tambien nosed past the $10 million mark.
