You must remember this: Even a love story soundtrack (e.g. A Walk to Remember) can handle only so much schmaltz. Despite solid vocals from the film’s star, Mandy Moore (who made her big-screen bow in 2001’s ”The Princess Diaries”), and Switchfoot’s Jonathan Foreman, their songs drown in maudlin emotions and gooey production. Toploader’s slacker-swinger take on ”Dancing in the Moonlight” and a buoyant New Radicals tune buck the muck, but unless you’re young and in crush, you won’t want to walk this way.
