Yeah, relationships are tough, but just try ’em on TV. Those people are all wack jobs. At least that’s the opinion of Ellen Fein and Sherrie Schneider — authors of The Rules and now The Rules of Marriage. Here’s what they had to say about the tube’s loopiest lovers.
— Friends ”In real life, Monica would need to talk to some married women,” says Fein of Courteney Cox’s bride-to-be. ”People like Phoebe and Rachel are usually hysterical about not being married.”
— Will & Grace ”Loving a gay man is a very sad thing, and Grace really loves Will,” says Fein of Debra Messing’s codependent cutie. ”To get over him, she would have to move away from him, to another state. Because he’s so good-looking.”
— The Sopranos ”Meadow isn’t a Rules girl,” sighs Schneider about Jamie-Lynn Sigler’s Mob daughter. ”You don’t drive after your cheating boyfriend when you have the flu. And your boyfriend isn’t supposed to be nice to you [just] because he’s afraid your father’s gonna have him killed.”
