A not-so-little ”Dutch” boy (McGregor, wielding an unplaceable accent) messes with Mother Nature and deceit when he assumes the identity of a famous garden designer in a scheme to bankrupt a wealthy English landowner (Pete Postlethwaite) and his wife (a perfectly bosomy Scacchi). Even novelties like the presence of Carmen Chaplin (Charlie’s granddaughter) as the couple’s tortured teen and a scene-stealing Richard E. Grant as Scacchi’s kissing cousin fail to give The Serpent’s Kiss any bite.
