We gave it a B+

This provocative album offers further proof that whatever Ken Burns says, jazz is hardly an all-American affair. The luminous pianist musically revisits the turf of his birth, offering a suitably romantic, witty, and self-assured portrait of Paris. ”La Vie en Rose,” with a samba undertow, is as sexily perky as ”La Marseillaise” is hiply poignant. Joined by French and American musicians (including stellar vibist Stefon Harris), Terrasson summons easy Gallic-American charm. B+
