AILING Friends‘ Matthew Perry, 31, is back in rehab. According to a statement, Perry, who fought an addiction to painkillers in 1997, ”entered an undisclosed rehabilitation hospital” at his doctors’ urging. (His publicist did not disclose the nature of his illness or treatment.) At press time, it was unclear how Perry’s indefinite leave of absence would affect Friends, which was to include a Chandler-Monica wedding during May sweeps. But Warner Bros. Television insists production on the season’s four remaining episodes will continue as normal, with scenes shot around Perry’s absence. Filming on the Paramount comedy Servicing Sarah, with Elizabeth Hurley, was also halted, though a set source insists that contrary to press reports, this was not due to his illness but to bad weather in Dallas, where the flick is filming. The shooting schedule will be reordered to accommodate Perry.
