DOUBLE TIME Let’s hope it’s true what they say about youth and energy. In another sign of strike madness, many of the ”American Pie 2” stars will be pulling double duty when they begin filming the sequel later this month: Chris Klein will also costar with Mel Gibson in ”We Were Soldiers Once…And Young,” Natasha Lyonne is filming ”Kate & Leopold,” and Shannon Elizabeth will be in Kevin Smith’s new film, ”Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.”
”Pie” producer Chris Moore has organized a Wednesday to Sunday shooting schedule to help accommodate the ”Pie” stars, but they may find themselves paying back the favor: On Feb. 28, Moore, Ben Affleck, and Matt Damon will announce the yet to be determined winner of their much ballyhooed online filmmaking contest, Greenlight, with filming to begin the following Monday. ”I’m my own worst nightmare,” says Moore, ”Because if the movie ends up involving young actors, I’m going to try to get my ‘Pie’ stars to be in that, too.”
FLOSS SOULS Josie and her pussycats may be rockers replete with skimpy outfits, but they still have reputations to protect. As stipulated by Archie Comics, which owns the Josie rights, the characters — played by Rachael Leigh Cook, Tara Reid, and Rosario Dawson — were held to on screen standards that include practicing safe…dental hygiene. (Thus the scene in which the girls all brush their teeth.) ”It’s called the Archie Code of Decency,” says Archie Comics chairman Michael Silberkleit, adding that a movie starring the carrot topped teen himself will be developed ”within the next year or so.” There’s a role to sink your teeth into.
