Traffic’s honest depiction of America’s war on drugs inspired stars at the Dec. 14 L.A. premiere to open up about their own personal addictions and triumphs. ”I went through a cocaine problem that got progressively worse,” shared Dennis Quaid, who entered rehab 10 years ago. ”I realized if I kept going the way I was, I’d probably die or lose everything, but I’m doing all right.” Former alcoholic Kristin Davis proclaimed, ”I’ve been sober for 12 years,” and ex-heroin addict Tom Sizemore, clean since 1995, got teary-eyed discussing his own recovery and the current hard times of pal Robert Downey Jr. ”I saw Robert in prison about 19 times, and prison doesn’t solve problems. Ain’t nothing going on in prison but dope.” A sobering thought.
