A ''Survivor'' game

A ”Survivor” game

For those who can’t hold their totems until Survivor returns, Mattel just released a game based on last summer’s wildly popular castaway show. The game — a tropical mishmash of Trivial Pursuit, Clue, and, strangely enough, Pictionary — attempts to recapture the conniving, screw-your-neighbor quality of the TV program by forcing at-home competitors to ”outwit, outplay and outlast” one another to the sandy end. With directions such as ”win the limbo contest — advance three spaces,” challenges like having to guess whether a teammate would resort to cannibalism, and the all-important Tribal Council vote, Survivor certainly has its cardboard heart in the right place. But forcing players to draw everything from a hookah to an atheist and subjecting them to silly riddles (”I’m usually cold, but may be hot”) is more infuriating than Sean’s alphabetical voting strategy.
