The beginning, a wise nun once said, is a very good place to start, and online-music newbies are unlikely to find a better starting point than the solid, simply dressed search engine at Listen.com (www.listen.com), which includes a helpful Beginner’s Guide for those who don’t know Liquid Audio from liquid Drano. The average tune retrieval isn’t as comprehensive as, say, Scour’s, but then again, no one has sued Listen.com — yet. Plus, the returns here seem better organized and of superior quality. A-
