We gave it a B+

Taunting as much as singing, Sean Nelson sounds like the smart mouth kid who got beat up all the time. This is his mold busting Seattle band’s caustic second CD, King James Version. And with it the Harvey Danger boys, who crafted the springy modern rock smash ”Flagpole Sitta,” make a play for longevity. There’s a punk crackle to several songs, as well as a bittersweet Ben Folds-ish piano ballad (”Pike St./Park Slope”). Too clever by half, and that’s a compliment. B+
