Designers from Christy Turlington to Bisou Bisou’s Michele Bohbot run their own yoga clothing lines

Posted on

Call it a karmic convergence: Celebs plus exercise trend yields fashion. With everyone from Courtney Thorne-Smith, Gwynie, and Russell Simmons to soccer moms doing the downward dog, yoga is the workout. And yoga duds — sleek flared pants, bandeau bras — can make anyone look ready for the lotus position. Retailers like Nike and J. Crew have introduced yoga-inspired attire, while devotees Christy Turlington and Bisou Bisou founder Michele Bohbot have their own lines of yoga wear. Bohbot’s L’o -m label offers Lycra pants with no side seams (won’t constrict the circulation), shakra color combos, and Sanskrit symbols. Moreover, says Bisou Bisou’s Marie Alliat of L’om clothing, ”[Bohbot] made them with love so people feel like there is good energy.” Both L’om and Turlington’s Nuala designs are available in stores like Fred Segal and Saks Fifth Avenue for people who shun sun salutations for that other centering activity, shopping.
