We gave it a C

It’s not just the stylishly filmed rape scene or the lingering shots of a naked dead woman that make this film so offensive. It’s the creepy vibe Travolta and Stowe ooze, as two Army officers investigating the murder of a young female captain. Their relentless banter, sticky with innuendo, seems out of place, considering they’re trying to solve a brutal sex crime. Finally, the plot is a nonsensical mess—which just caps off the ugliness. Reel Goodies (1:22) That flirt! Stowe taunts an attractive sex offender: ”It’s a good smile, but you could never lead a rape.” The Last Detail Director Simon West, who made Con Air before this, got his start shooting TV commercials like the first Budweiser frog ads.
