Kirk Douglas has bid farewell to his second home of 44 years. The stone house — just down from author Sidney Sheldon’s home — sits on about an acre of lush gardens and includes a tennis court, guest house, gym, pool, and sauna. Over the years, the 82-year-old Spartacus star and his wife, Anne, have hosted such showbiz types there as Gregory Peck, Frank Sinatra, Katharine Hepburn, and Spencer Tracy. ”It’s very hard for them to part with,” says real estate broker Paul Shepard, who sold the house to two retired businessmen. The Douglases bought another home in Montecito (north of their main place in Beverly Hills), for a reported $1.8 million, ”so they can be closer to their grandchildren,” says Shepard.
