We gave it an A-

Unlike the recent overstuffed Linda, Emmylou, and Dolly project Trio II, this album of duets between Linda and Emmylou has both a looser vibe and more venturesome material. These two paragons of country-pop could be coasting, but fortunately for us, they’re still listening. Western Wall: The Tucson Sessions offers such moments of pure grace as Andy Prieboy’s prairie gothic ”Loving the Highway Man,” Sinead O’Connor’s lullaby ”This Is to Mother You,” and their collaboration with Neil Young on Bruce Springsteen’s ”Across the Border.”
