It would be thrilling to report that the world’s most famous singing Mormon had written a book filled with showbiz-family scandal, backstage temptations, and caffeinated beverages. But the Osmonds just don’t do sordid, and that’s what makes them such lovable curiosities. Life is Just What You Make It won’t completely disappoint those looking for a little dish: Donny cops to having an unhealthy relationship with his trademark purple socks (”They became like magical talismans to me”) and secretly wanting to be manhandled by female fans. Throw in a late-developing panic disorder and you have a respectable entry in the celebrity confessional genre. B
