A ''Notting Hill'' flat

Posted on

Immortalized as Hugh Grant’s flat with the blue door in Notting Hill, this apartment was owned by the film’s writer-producer, Richard Curtis, who took advantage of Hill‘s publicity to sell it to an undisclosed buyer. (Curtis reportedly purchased it in 1994 for $500,000.) The film used a soundstage for interiors — a shame, since the real thing boasts a 1,000-square-foot main room, two mezzanine galleries, a fireplace, and a custom-built kitchen. Still, the owner can let friends think Grant and Julia Roberts were there — all that’s missing is a filthy Welsh flatmate.
